Repossessed Boats for Sale
Finding Reposessed Boats isn’t as hard as most people would assume. The trick is in doing your research and homework, don’t be afraid to make phone calls to government offices, banks, or even local boat yards that you know store reposessed boats. The more phone calls the better your results will be the more choices you’ll have while choosing the right reposessed boat to actually purchase.
Buying a reposessed boat is really no different to any other boat purchase, you need to do a thorough inspection of the vessel, engine, hull, and all other aspects of the boat. Just because the boat was reposessed doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be in bad shape (especially with todays economy.) There are a lot of people who genuinenly care about the maintenance of their boats but simply don’t have the resources to keep them at this point — this means that there is going to be a flood of reposessed boats which are actually in fantastic shape (this is just my 2 cents.)
I’ve got a fantastic boat mechanic who I’ve actually taken along with me to inspect each boat I’ve purchased over the last 9 years. I’ve developed a give and take relationship with the mechanic — he inspects the boats for me and he gets rewarded with all of the maintenance and upgrade work. If you aren’t lucky enough to have this, you could always offer a reputable boat mechanic $50 or so to stop by and take it look at the boat before making any decisions. In the long run it will really pay off — you don’t want to get stuck with a lemon!
